Racing to Save Lives
Welcome to my Team In Training home page!!
I'm training to participate in an endurance event as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission.
I hope you will visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your support!!
4-25-10- I just finished the Oklahoma City Memorial Half-Marathon, and ran a 2:15:16!! Shaving off 18 minutes from my Personal Record!! There were so many TNT runners there it was awesome!!
4-29-10-Our official kickoff party and training begins...keep checking back for more updates!!
4-30-10-Kickoff Party was awesome!! I wish we were starting our training today!! I also recruited my sister to run with me!!
5-6-10-Thought we had our 1st TeamIRun2Be meeting tonight, turns out its not til next week...whoops!!
8-12-10-WOW!! Cant believe it has already been 10 weeks since I started this amazing journey, when people say that it is life changing, that is only the half of it. This has been such an incredible experience and I feel blessed to be able to participate in it. The people I have met and the stories that have been shared make it worth every stomach cramp, sweat drenched shirt, blister, and tear.
40 days to go!!!! Well this was an interesting week Tuesday during my long run I was hit by a car that somehow didnt see me in my neon yellow shirt in broad daylight. I was lucky to walk away with only some road rash and bumps and bruises and definitely a new appreciation for life! With all that happening I was not sure how my Saturday run would go. We decided that we want to run 20 miles before race day so we are having to increase our mileage more every week than we had planned. This week was 16 and I went in a little worried. The weather was beautiful and I had my girls Megan and Rachel running with me. It ended up being the best run I have had so far!! and along the way we all decided on running 3 more races together I think we must have been delirious!! I am truly blessed and proud of what we are all accomplishing!!
Halfway done!!!
9-11-10 Well todays run was 18. Rachel, Megan, and I decided that we needed to find our "wall" (for all you non-runners that is the point in your run where you dont think you can keep going but have to since you are most likely nowhere near the finish line, yeah its awesome like that!) So we had to up our mileage so that we could get to 20 before race day. The weather was definitely not on our side this week, it was humid and there was a good headwind for most of it. At about 9 we all decided we had had enough and just wanted to get this thing over with, too bad we still had 9 more to go. I can honestly say that without these amazing women I probably would have walked at least a few times. By the time we got back we were all feeling pretty sore and defeated. Maybe it was because we had such a good run the week before or maybe it just wasn't our week. My sister reminded me "You have to have your bad runs to truly appreciate the good ones".
This Saturday is our short run only 10 miles(yes it is crazy that 10 miles has become a short run for me).
Thank you to everyone who has donated so far!!! And please if you have not donated yet do so, it is an amazing cause and I am so blessed to be a part of it!!!!
Thanks for checking up with me, and supporting my fight to cure blood cancers!!
Please come back soon for more updates!!
