Welcome to my Team In Training home page.
I'm training to participate in an endurance event as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. I am completing this event in honor of a great little guy who is now battling his SECOND round of treatment for Leukemia.
Above is a picture of the young man I am doing this for. His name is JC. He was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia in December 2006 when he was only two and a half years old. He went through 2 1/2 years of treatments. These included blood transfusions, surgery for a permanent IV catheter, bone marrow biopsies, chemotherapy, spinal taps, weekly leg shots, weekly blood tests, and daily medications.
JC was in remission for just over five months when he relapsed in December of 2009. He is starting another two and a half years of treatment.
JC is my inspiration to help raise money to find a cure for blood cancers!!
Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission.
I hope you will visit my web site often.
Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your
support!

Last Sunday I rode 40 miles. I rode 20 miles on Tuesday evening - what a perfect day for a ride. Tonight I rode another 20. This coming Saturday I will do 45 miles with the group. I am always nervous riding with such experienced riders; but they all make me feel accepted and comfortable. We are all in it for the same reason - to help raise money to find a cure for blood cancers!
Thanks to everyone who has donated to my cause. I truly appreciate your generous support. I am honored to be riding in this program!

The first week of my "official" training is nearing the end. I met my team for the first time on Saturday. What a great group of people; I am looking forward to getting to know them all in the weeks to come. We rode 25 miles on Saturday. It was my maiden voyage at riding with a group of people - it was great.
So far this week I have rode a total of 70 miles; hoping to have a total of 85 miles by Saturday.
Thanks to all of you who have already donated. It motivates me even more to know that so many people are behind me.
