Racing to Save Lives

WELCOME!

to Kathi's Team In Training home page.

My best friend from high school, Linda, was diagnosed with leukemia this year and was given a stem cell transplant, obtained partially from her 15-year old son. This was her 3rd battle with cancer, having recovered from two other bouts with Hodgkins disease. Unfortunately Linda lost this battle on Sept. 1, leaving a husband of 24 years, her son, and college-aged daughter.

I am very committed to raising money for research so this disease will go away and not take mothers from their children any more!

So....here's the deal. I'm training to participate in the Disney half marathon as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers, but especially for my dear friend, LInda. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!

Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission.

I hope you will visit my web site often to see my progress. Thanks for your support! Even a very small donation is very much appreciated and will help me move the needle closer to my goal.

p.s. The pic is from my wedding; Linda was my Maid of Honor and yes, hats were big in the 80's! I'll post some more updated photos later...

p.p.s. If you're interested in reading some of Linda's story, here's the link.

p.p.p.s. Training is going well; I LOVE this cooler weather to run in and so does my 4-legged training partner, Charlie. Ran 70 minutes Saturday, about 5.5 miles! 3 months of training ahead, so 13.1 should be do-able!

ps4: I have 2 fundraising events coming up, that I hope you can support: LiaSophia Jewelry/MaryKay party on 11/15 at 3pm and Dog Walk at White River State Park on 11/22 at 4pm. Please email me for info on ordering online: kmoore@mail.com . Dog Walk suggests a $15. donation (here on this site) and then just show up for prizes, friendly dog-lovers, etc.!!
