Brad and Michaela showing their TNT pride at this year's Mini Marathon!
Welcome to my fund raising page! I just registered for my 3rd Team in Training event, the Nike Women's Marathon on October 18. Yes, I plan on doing a full 26.2 mile marathon! The mere thought of going 26.2 miles is enough to strike fear in my heart. But this fear is nothing compared to the fear my family faced almost 5 years ago when we told that our 7-year-old daughter, Michaela, had leukemia. Today at almost 12 years old, Michaela is in remission and doing great thanks in part to wonderful people like you who have supported Team in Training and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in the past.
How can you help now? By donating to my fund raising you can help me help LLS carry out their mission to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. 75% of the money I raise goes directly to this mission. The other 25% goes to cover the expenses for me to participate such as race entry, training, etc.
Any amount you can donate - $10, $20, $50, $100 or even the spare change from your sofa cushion - will be greatly appreciated! To put it in perspective:
$26.20 - $1 per mile
$52.40 - $2 per mile
$500 - financial aid for one blood cancer patient for one year
$30 lunch for two at Buffalo Wild Wings including tip (not that I have any recent experience with lunching at Buffalo Wild Wings or anything! :) )
My goal is to raise $4000 which would put Michael's and my combined fundraising efforts over $15000 since Mickey went off treatment in 2007. Please donate what you can to help me reach my goal by September 15. You can donate on this site with a credit card or you can mail a check (payable to LLS) to me at:

Thank you so much for your support in this endeavor! Check back as I will be updating the site with fund raising information and training updates once training starts in June. While training for a marathon will be tough, it's nothing compared to chemo!
God bless!
Jenny

10/14 It's almost here! I can't believe I leave in two days for San Francisco! Training went well for the most part this season. My longest walk was 17 miles, so hopefully that was enough to get me ready for the full 26.2. Michael and the kids will be there and we hope to meet up right before the finish line so Mickey can finish with me. Knowing they are there waiting for me will be a huge inspiration to keep going! They have all sacrificed a lot this season as I was training and mentoring so I don't want to let them down.
Thanks to all who donated! Even though it doesn't look like it, I did meet my goal. I have a credit that isn't showing up, but it's there. So thanks to your help, I did it!!! Now on to the marathon!!

9/5 WOW today was tough. I did 12 miles on the Monon, but hurt my knee at mile 5. The last 7 miles were sloooowwww! In two weeks I'll be out again for 4 hours, aiming for 16 miles. It's hard to believe the marathon is just 6 weeks away!

8/10 Training is going well. We did 8 miles at Ft. Ben on Saturday. It was tough with the hills, but it's good training for San Francisco. Fund raising is going pretty good at this point, too. We are having a team garage sale at my house on Aug. 29 so stop by if you want. Also I will be hosting a fund raising Pampered Chef party on Sept. 1 at 6:00. Everyone's invited - it should be a great time!

7/19 Yesterday's training session went great. I did 6.75 miles in 1.75 hours, a pace of 15:30/mile. I need to cut a minute off per mile to make the time limit set for the marathon, so I have my work cut out for me. On the fund raising front, we will be having a fund raiser dinner at Max & Erma's in Greenwood on Monday Aug. 3. It should be a fun evening!

7/4 Happy 4th of July! Today was my first time at Eagle Creek this year. There was one other walker so we hit the road together. We did 4.5 miles in 70 minutes. That translates to 15.5 minutes/mile, one minute more per mile than I need to maintain in order to complete the marathon in the time limit. I'm feeling goo about that considering it was my first time on the hills in over a year. As far as fundraising is going, I'm at 31% of my goal right now. I have just over 3 months to go!

6/12 Tomorrow is our 2nd group training. I've begun jogging some on my own. I look forward to jogging with others who will keep me going longer. We are having a team breakfast/meeting after training tomorrow to discuss some fund raising ideas. I'm looking forward to some great brain storming.....and great food! :)
