Racing to Save Lives
I am training to complete The Nation's Triathlon September 13th. I will swim one mile in the Potomac River, bike 25 miles and then end the adventure by running 6 miles through the sites of Washington, D.C. The reason for this madness is to raise money for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society to fund their research to find a cure for Leukemia, Lymphoma, Hodgkins Disease and Myeloma.
I am competing in honor of two women, my Honored Heroes. My first Honored Hero is Denise Savage, Cam's mom, who lost her battle with Myeloma February 13, 2009. Myeloma accounts for 1% of all cancers and 2% of all cancer deaths. I am also competing for my second Honored Hero, Lizzie Walls, who is still fighting her cancer. Lizzie will turn 6 years old just days after we complete our triathlon. Lizzie was diagnosed with ALL in January 2008. She is now in remission receiving maintenance therapy for another year. These women are my inspiration.
While I swim, bike and run this summer, each mile, and drop of sweat, will get me closer to the finish line. However, my real goal cannot be accomplished without your help!
Please contribute to this very worthy cause in memory of those who have lost their battle, those still battling blood cancer and those who will be diagnosed in the future.
$31 = $1 for every mile I will complete in Washington, D.C.
$50 = thank God its Megan and not me
$100 = I need a tax deduction
$155 = $5 for every mile I complete September 13th in DC
$500 = puts you in the Megan's-new-best-friend category
Thanks,
Megan
