Racing to Save Lives
Welcome to my Team In Training home page.
Thanks for stopping by, I'm training to participate in a century ride (100 miles) as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure by 2015!
I hope you will visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your support! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7/4/2008 I am also traininig for a half-ironman in August. So along with the Century ride, Ironman, and kids my summer is pretty full. I have been logging some long miles on the bike and stocking up on the vasaline and bike shorts!! My longest ride so far has been 50 miles but have done a few 40 milers followed by an hour run when training for the half-ironman! My fundraising has just begun but we have some big events planned. I hope you stop by often and maybe I will see you at an event I am throwing!! GO TEAM!! _________________________________________________________ 7/15/2008 My training is going really well this weekend was probably my hardest yet - Friday 60 mile bike followed by an hour run, Sat -- easy run, Sun - 1 mile swim followed by an hour run, Mon - 12 mile run followed by 40 min swim!! My Fundraising is just starting and I will send my letters and start planning events soon. Thanks for those that have already donated and the support! GO TEAM!!! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 8/15/2008 Ok so I did my half ironman which turned into a really long training. The swim was canceled due to extremely rough waters in Lake Michigan -- looked like the ocean! So the tri turned into a duathlon, which met we ran 2 miles then biked 56 miles and then ran 13.1 miles! It was def harder than what we had been training for but we all finished the race and enjoyed the day! All in all I had to remember that the patients and survivors that we are doing this for face these types of challenges daily if not hourly and they have no choice but to continue on, and most of theirs are life and death challenges! So our little challenge was not the same! I am now focused on doing a lot more rides to get ready for the century and planning some big fundraisers to get me to that fundraising goal! I have a long 70 mile ride this weekend! Thanks for all of your support and especially the words of encouragement! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 9/4/2008 Training is going well! We have gotten in some really long rides lately and I feel like I am ready! My last big fundraising push is coming up with a big event this Saturday! Hope fully the rain wil stay away and we will have a great turnout! Thanks again for all of your support and words of encouragement!! GO TEAM!!! |
