My Fundraising Page

Sep 20, 2012

Yes yes yes, I am bugging you again. I know everyone is sick of hearing from me, but I still have 47% of my fundraising goal to meet.

When I signed up for TNT I really didn't know too many people that had personally been affected by leukemia or lymphoma, but shortly after I signed up a dear friend of mine got the worst news a family member can recieve.... Her wonderful 19 year old cousin has Leukemia. Her family was devistated.

I'll be posting more about Zach soon, but I wanted to begin here by introducing him. This is a real person, with a real life, and real family, and he is facing a fight right now. Let us all take a moment to process that. What were you doing when you were 19?

If you could take a moment and donate a few bucks this is truly a great organization. I have researched them, how they spend their money, what portion of donations go to research, etc. The money that is collected really is used for research and not just to pad the pockets of CEO's. If you would like any of this information I am happy to pass it along to you.

So help a gal out!?

This fundraising page has quite a bit of dust on it. I was hitting this like gangbusters and then all the training, kids, school starting, etc put this on the back burner.

Please do not confuse that for lack of resolve. I am ready to kill this last 1/3 of my training. That being said this last 1/3 of training is the most time consuming so I am trying to knock this fundraising out of the park!

When it is all said and done I don't have very far to go and once this is done and we've raised money for such a great cause I can focus all my energy on completeing the last race on my bucket list this year.

So far this year I have finished my first triathalon, half marathon, tough mudder, and now just 1 left the marathon.

So help me focus my energy and at the same time help out a great cause. Thanks so much for your never ending support.

It's been 4 weeks of training, I have my plan laid out and I've been sticking to it. OK well I sort of stuck to it last week when it was 106 degrees, I did get in the long run that I had needed. Now that there has been a break in the weather though I have been back in full force. I never thought I would see the day that 90 would be comfortable running weather.

It's time again to hit the fundraising hard. The sooner this is out of the way the better. I absolutely hate asking people for money. There are so many people and so many organizations that need help. I know sometimes it can be overwhelming being constantly asked to help with this or that. I also know that I have great friends that are always willing to help. The amazing outpouring of support that I have seen in the past few weeks has left me speechless. If you know me that just doesn't happen very often.

The thing is that I don't need you to make some grand lump sum donation, although if you want to far be it for me to stand in your way. What I need is everyone to dig in offer up a cup of Starbucks worth of money and I’ll meet my goal in no time.

I thought I would make of list of reasons I am worthy of that cup of coffee's worth of money. I mean if I am asking you to give up your morning coffee the least I could do is give you some good reasons why.

1. First and foremost I hope that you are considering it because we're friends and well, this is what friends do.

2. I'm a Bad A$. I mean really. Running a marathon is just pretty Bad A$. Something like only 1% of the population will complete a marathon. That's pretty cool.

3. The sooner you can help me out the quicker I stop harassing you to help me out. This is a win win win situation.

4. Maybe you can drop me a sponsorship because one time when you needed it I offered you some sort of comic relief, a hug, or if you are one friend in particular because I didn't throw you to the ground and trample over you just because there was a bird flying at my head. (Ahem she knows who she is...)

5. With you sponsoring me, you are helping me check something off my bucket list. I want to say I finished a marathon and if I have all of you out there giving me the stink eye because you sponsored me I will cross that finish line if I have to crawl across.

6. It's tax deductible. Enough said.

7. The likelihood is that you know someone who has been afflicted with cancer and while it might have been a different kind of cancer you know how devastating it can be. Your money goes to helping find a better way to treat those people and giving them peace of mind.

8. I will give you a huge shout out on all of my social networks because I think everyone should know how awesome you are for being such an awesome friend to me.

9. Remember that first blog post where I mentioned that the main response I get when I tell someone I am running a marathon, "I'd rather pay money then to run a marathon?!" Here is a chance for you to put actions where your words are.

10. As funny as some of the things are on this list the truth is I am extremely grateful for all of the support I receive and when I am out on those long runs or running in 100 degree weather I think about all of the people who have sponsored me and it makes me push harder, farther, and past my limits. So thank you.

When I mentioned to people that I was thinking of doing a full marathon I got one response more than any other. You couldn't pay me enough to run a full marathon!

Well? Would you pay me to run a full marathon? More specifically would you donate to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society?

I'm excited and nervous for the months of training that lies ahead of me. In May I completed my first half mary (13.1). It was something I never really thought was possible, and now here I sit planning for 26.2. What have I done?

On top of worrying about running 26.2 now I also need to run $1100.00 dollars. So if you can help me with that part, I'll take care of the running.

Thanks in advance everyone... see you at the finish line in November.

Teams are made up of individuals. Without them, there is no team.

Welcome to my Team In Training home page.

I have a mission-to help find cures and more effective treatments for blood cancers. To accomplish that mission, I’m participating in a sports endurance event as a member of The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Team In Training. Like the other members of TNT, I will be raising funds to help find cures and better treatments for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma. I’m improving the quality of my life by participating and with your support, I can help improve the quality of life for patients and their families as well.

Please make a donation in support of my efforts with Team In Training and help advance the research for cures.
