October 4th Update:

Hey All! Thank you for visiting my web page. First off I wanted to thank you so much for donating to my marathon fund-raising! My original goal was $2000 which I exceeded in about a week and am currently at $5350. You are all so amazing and I can not tell you how much your support has meant to me! Both Kelly and I are doing great on our journeys! Kelly had her last scan a few weeks ago and although she is not fully in remission they expect her to be in the next year. They will be removing her port soon, great news! She continues to amaze me with her positive outlook and the lack of self pity. I complain a lot more about my long runs then she ever did about Chemo or radiation. She is an inspiration! I have done my training and now the big day, October 13th at 8:00am!! Please come out and cheer me on! Kelly will be running 3 miles of it with me which is incredible!! I am going to put the names of everyone that donated to our cause on my shirt so that you are all running with me!! Wish me luck and come out for the celebration party at Ed and Jean's Bar at 2032 W Armitage Ave. Chicago, IL. 4:00pm!

Hi all!! It's me again!! If you can believe it, it has been 10 years since I did my last Marathon! Some of you may remember I did the Chicago Marathon in 2000 (my first one) and did it with Team in Training! I also did Dublin, Ireland in 2001 with Team in Training. After my last Marathon back in 2003 (New York) I said I was done. Well guess what? I'm not. As many unexpected things come up in life, one of my good friends Kelly Steinhauer was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma in late 2012. She has been an absolute inspiration to me and it has sparked me to run the Chicago Marathon (one more time) while raising money to help find cures and treatments for blood cancers with Team in Training.

Kelly has been incredible over the last 6 months doing chemo every other Friday and going back to teaching her 5th grade class the following Tuesday. She does not complain at all, she just keeps looking for what she can do to help make a change. Her chemo only got about 80% of the tumor (but no active cancer cells in the tumor, AMEN!) so now she starts radiation. While I run and train for the marathon I will continuously think of her and her bravery and drive during this trying time. She is also lucky to have a wonderful husband and supporter in David (don't tell him I said that). He has been her rock!

So I ask you once again to donate to this wonderful cause and help me reach my personal goal of $3500. Any amount will help! I will be updating my page on Kelly and on my training so stop back by any time and see how we are doing!! Feel free to pass my website link on to everyone you know!!
