Racing to Save Lives
Welcome to my Team In Training home page.
My mom Diana is a survivor of Myelodysplastic Syndrome. As most of you are aware, she underwent a bone barrow transplant at Rush Copley Hospital in November 2002. She was in the hospital for over 40 days and does not remember the majority of it or the hardships we endured. Today she is healthy, and knows that she is one of the lucky ones. We were able to meet my mom’s donor, Neena a year after the transplant, and this lady is literally a mini version of my mom. She is just as wonderful of a person as my mom. I am also running for my Uncle Frankie, who is currently in remission for Waldenstroms Macroflogulinemia. Knowing two people in my life who have encountered two different forms of blood cancer, I know this is something important that I need to do to help find a cure. I do not know what I would do without them.
This year, there are a number of half marathons I will be running, The Chicago Marathon on October 9, 2011 along with The Goofy Challenge in January.
Please Support me with meeting my goal of raising $1000.00. The goal is to one day, find a cure. Wish me luck, and thank you to everyone for your ongoing support. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I'm completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
