Hello Family and Friends,
I’m fundraising for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society for the 2010 Chicago Marathon and am asking for your much needed help in supporting this worthy society.
Unfortunately, many of us know someone who is currently or has battled some form of cancer. Leukemia, Hodgkin lymphoma, non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL), myeloma are types of cancer that can affect the bone marrow, blood cells and lymphatic system. An estimated 912,938 Americans are currently living with these types of “blood cancers,” with one child/adult dying every 10 minutes.
A dear friend of mine was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma this winter. As with anyone who battles cancer, at the moment of diagnosis, her life lens changed. Due to the physical nature of her profession, she was unable to maintain her work commitments with the same rigor, and the medical and day-to-day bills continued to astronomically accumulate. Through grants offered by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, she was able to stay financially afloat so she could direct her energy to beating this disease.
I say this to highlight the influence one society had on one life. I realize we are all solicited by hundreds of organizations and causes, and may sometimes hesitate to give back due to the rational that our dollar gets lost in the shuffle and may not make it to the pocket of the one in need. By donating to Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, your contributions will be directed towards research and grants such as the one my friend benefited from.
I am asking that you take the time and make a donation, no matter how small or great.
