Racing to Save Lives!
Welcome to my Team In Training home page.
On December 8, 2006, I was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia. I was 20 years old, a sophomore at Boston University, and I had no idea what leukemia was or what the disease meant for me.
As my treatment progressed, I learned more about blood cancers, leukemia in particular. The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society played a large part in my research and attempts to understand the disease that was trying to destroy me and too many others.
Since my diagnosis, I have met many people who have been diagnosed with a blood cancer. Every time I meet or hear of another person with leukemia or lymphoma, my anger at cancer kicks in, as does my drive to find a cure.
In the early summer of 2007, a family friend told me that she was planning to run in the 2007 Chicago Marathon with Team in Training in my honor. Since that time, I knew this was what I wanted to do. I promised myself that when I was finally able to run again, I would join Team in Training and run the Chicago Marathon. She inspired me to run, and this organization continues to inspire me by the dedication of its athletes and fundraisers, as well as the work the LLS is doing for blood cancer patients.
As of now, I am in complete remission from leukemia, and it feels great. I am totally healthy, running again, and feel and look like a normal person once more. Having survived the diagnosis and treatment, I want to do whatever I can to help others facing a cancer diagnosis reach this point.
Please make a donation to support my participation in Team InTraining and help advance LLS's mission. Any and every amount helps, even $1. It all adds up, and it is all welcomed and appreciated.
Many of you supported me while I was going through treatment. This is my chance to give back, and once again, I cannot do it without your help. Together, we can cure these diseases and make life even just a bit better for anyone who has to fight the battle.
Also! I blog every once in a while! You should check out the B-log; it is all about cancer and chemo and running and everything we are working for and against at TNT.

I hope you will visit my web site often to see how things are going with the running and the fundraising and the awesomeness. Thank you so much for your support!
-Peace. :)

Amy ran and finished the 2007 Chicago Marathon, which a lot of people didn't even do as it was freaking hot that year and the race ran out of water. so, Go Amy!)
