Welcome to the Will Power! Training home page.
Will's journey began on June 17, 2009. He was diagnosed with T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia after feeling lethargic and short of breath for a few days. Little did we know what was behind all those seemingly minor symptoms. We visited the pediatrician to be sure before vacation what was going on. She then sent us for blood work at Northwest Community Hospital. She called an hour later to tell us to head downtown to Children's Memorial as she believed Will to have leukemia. His white count was 243,000 and it is supposed to be 6000. After many tests, needle pricks, spinal taps, the diagnosis and treatment plan was determined. Thus began our journey.
Will completed the weekly chemo phase of treatment in Feb. of 2010. He was scheduled to continue to have monthly chemo for the next three years. Life took another turn and Will passed away May 2010 due to complications from his treatment. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society has been a great resource for our family during the last few years and we felt this would be a great way to give back for all they have done for us.
We are training to participate in an endurance event called Blood Sweat and Tears" this September, as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. We are completing this event in honor of Will and so many others who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
Please make a donation to support our participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission. I hope you will visit our web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see our progress. Thanks for your support!
