Training for A Cure
Welcome to my Team In Training home page.
I'm training to participate in a marathon as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives.
I am completing this event in honor of my brother in law, Ed, and all individuals who are battling blood cancers. Ed was diagnosed with leukemia on December 6, 2007, just a few days before the Christmas holidays. He spent the next 36 days in the hospital undergoing chemotherapy treatment #1. In total, Ed underwent 3 rounds of chemotherapy with April 24, 2008 being his last day of chemo treatment. He then started maintenance chemotherapy drugs to prevent the accumulation of abnormal blood cells from interfering with healthy blood cells. If it weren't for the chemotherapy and drug treatment, Ed would not be with us today. Ed is one of the lucky heroes.
An estimated 895,000 Americans are living with leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma. Every 10 minutes, someone dies from a blood cancer. Every 4 minutes, someone is diagnosed with a blood cancer. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
My financial commitment to the Society is $3,500.00. Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission. Remember all donations are 100% tax deductible. Although I will complete my marathon in early November, I need to satisfy my fundraising commitment by September 15th. Please donate now.
I hope you will visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thank you for your support!
