Thanks for visiting my website! You are helping give cancer a positive makeover! Hello Friends & Family! As many of you know myself and two friends from college are running a half marathon - 13.1 miles! - at Walt Disney World in less than a month through the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team in Training. We have set a fundraising goal of $12,000 and are getting closer and closer as the days go by! We are just $1500 short of this goal! WOW! We are throwing a benefit this Friday night - Dec 18th at the Dutch Goose in Boise. Come to our "Wrecking Cancer's Party" to help find a cure for blood cancers! We are asking for a $5 door donation fee. Then come on in and enjoy musical guests Suburban Exiles and a cold beverage or two. Cancer is wrecking people's parties all over the world but Friday night that changes! We are going to wreck cancer's party! :-) Come help support the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and enjoy a night out with friends! Hope to see you there to kick off the holiday break! M4erry Christmas! Molly ************************************************** Hello Family and Friends! I just wanted to send you a quick update that we are up to running 7 miles! Whoo hoo! Half way there and the Walt Disney World Marathon is only in 2 1/2 months. I also wanted to tell you all thank you for supporting my fundraising efforts. My current grand total is....$3200! I am still just a little short of my goal, that is incredible! Please help me finish reaching my goal by forwarding this website onto other family and friends. If everyone just donates a little more, I will reach my goal! On behalf of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, thank you very much for your support. I really appreciate your generosity. Thank you, Molly McCabe ********************************************************* Welcome Friends & Family! As many of you know, “my normal†came to a screeching halt on November 26th, 2008. Something was very wrong. “You have APL leukemia…†WHOA! Party’s over. Rewind. Stop. Play. I had cancer. I was 23 years old and completely had the rug ripped out from under my feet and my family’s feet. During the next 7 months, 2 weeks, and 5 days I experienced hair loss three times, shaved my head twice, had 67 infusions of chemotherapy, 6 rounds of chemo, a 5 week stay in the hospital – including Thanksgiving and Christmas, and have felt more horrible than I ever thought I could ever possibly feel. I am happy to report that I am currently in remission and there are no detectable cancer cells in my body! If I haven’t said it before, CANCER SUCKS!!!!! Cancer is a party wrecker, but I refuse to let it wreck my party! After battling cancer, I have learned that there are too many things to do, and plan, and live for. This is why I have decided to participate in the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Team In Training program with three of my college girlfriends, Anna, Emily and Dani. Funds go to blood cancer research, financial aid (I personally have received this from this organization), professional education, and advocacy in exchange for training and supporting budding athletes like me and my friends! Team in Training has raised $950 million dollars in the 20 years since it was created and I cannot think of a better way to give back for all the support I received. Its time to admit that cancer is crap, and that it needs a major, positive makeover! I am lucky to be cancer free, but not everyone is. There are nearly 750,000 people fighting blood cancers and an additional 114,000 who will be diagnosed this year. I will be running in honor of one of my cancer posse friends, Elaine…..She was diagnosed two days before me with AML leukemia and passed away on September 31st, 2009. While I was battling leukemia side by side with this cancer soul sister, she helped me feel that I was not alone and this is my way of helping other friends in my cancer posse in her honor! My goal is to raise $4000 by October 25th, but I will be accepting donations through January. I will participate in the Walt Disney World Half Marathon in Orlando, Florida in January. Between the four of us, our total goal is $16,000. All donations are tax-deductible (receipts can be provided) and $0.75 of every dollar you donate will go directly to research, patient services, and education. This research has improved the survival rate for both children and adults suffering from blood cancers from 4% in 1960, to 80% today. In the past months, we have all felt the strain of the economy. But may I remind you, that cancer does not stop for the economy. It certainly, didn’t for me. I am hoping you will consider the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society this year for your charitable contribution. Every donation, big or small helps. Through contributions, you can show cancer patients and survivors that they are not alone in their battle against cancer I hope you will visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your support! Smiles and love, Molly |
