As many of you know, I trained with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society last fall and completed the Rock N Roll Marathon in January. It was an amazing experience and I thank each and every one of you who supported me through donations and encouraged me throughout the fundraising process. I am now training and fundraising for the Rock N Roll Marathon in San Antonio in November. This season I am volunteering as a TNT Mentor for the CF/Waterloo area. This entails motivating participants to meet their fundraising, training, and personal goals through group trainings and holding one-on-one meetings to address any issues participants may be having. I will also be setting up and facilitating group fundraisers to build camaraderie between participants.

My team is running to sponsor our "honored hero", Jared, who is five years old and currently undergoing chemotherapy. He was diagnosed with AML (acute myecogenous leukemia) on August 8, 2007. He enjoys camping, fishing, football, and racing and hopes to be a race car driver when he grows up. His role model is Pastor Russ Grill at Denver Baptist Church. His story is an inspiration for all of us to continue adamently fundraising for a cure.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s mission is to raise funds to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease, and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. Here are just a few examples of what can be done with your donation:

$25 provides patients and their loved ones with FREE booklets that contain up-to-date information on their disease and help them make informed decisions about their treatment options.

$50 registers one person to be a bone marrow donor.

$75 provides HLA (bone marrow) typing for a family member of a patient with leukemia.

$100 helps supply laboratory researchers with supplies and materials critical to carrying out their search for cures.
