Saving Lives One Mile At A Time

A Marathon With A Purpose
Jan 30, 2011

Dear Friends and Family,

I have something important that I would like to share with you and this is my reason for writing you. Now, I know when I tell you I am running a marathon in San Diego you will most likely shrug and think to yourself that this is no surprise, that crazy girl has been running for entirely too long (which I will agree with you on). However, I am not just running a marathon. Let me explain:

In the past I have always ran for myself and my own purposes. This time is different. I am not running to get in shape, or to be fast, or to see how many people I can finish in front of. This time I am running to save lives by running in honor of all those who are affected by blood cancers by running for Team In Training, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s biggest fundraiser.

If you have lost a loved one to blood cancer, I am running for you. If you have lost a loved one to any type of cancer at all, I am running for you. If you worry about your family being affected by cancer in the future, I am running for you. If you are a cancer survivor, I am running for you.

The truth of the matter is, we may not know how to cure cancer but if we do not keep trying, we never will. That is why I am running this marathon, because this is something I can do to help in the fight against blood cancer. If we do not do everything we can, we are failing those we have lost and those who will be taken in the future from this awful disease that leaves us all feeling helpless.

Now, here is how you can help: I am calling you all to action and asking you to support me in this battle by making a donation to support the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Anything you can give helps. You can donate online RIGHT NOW on this website. Rest assured that your donation will go to good use: 75% of every dollar will go to invaluable patient services and help fund life saving research. Please donate by March 15th, to ensure I meet my goal of $2,900 by my deadline.

I cannot get through this marathon without the motivation of saving lives. LLS cannot continue to save lives without your support. Cancer patients do not get a choice of whether they want the disease or not, but by making the choice to donate you can show them you are doing what you can do to help and give them hope.

Thank you all in advance for your donation. It means a lot to me and even more to those you are helping.

I know I can count on you all for your support! Let's kick cancer to the curb! Go team!

Racing to Save Lives

Welcome to my Team In Training home page.

I'm training to participate in an endurance event as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!

Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission.

I hope you will visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your support!
