My shins are WUSSES!!!!!
May 31, 2011 by Becki Ramsey

Ha! FINALLY! I went out today for 2.5 miles and they only screamed for the first mile or so then they relaxed and got into the grove. Turns out I just need to push myself a little farther and give them a chance to show up like the rest of my body! Finally...whew.

Fundraising is going slower than I expected so far. I had a great idea, but it's not gonna happen as I planned. Still working out some details and doing some small stuff, but need a big event to get this done. Any ideas?

Peace, love and happy training!

Run details: 2.5 miles outside, run/walk combo, shins MUCH better after not giving in to the peer pressure they put on the rest of my body parts. First exercise I've gotten since last THURSDAY. Maybe that helped? Huh. Anyway, good workout today.

Today I have a NEW favorite running song: Gloria Gaynor's "I Will Survive!" WOOT. Didn't go quite as far today and walked mostly to see what happened with my shins. Got about .5 miles in and stretched. It hurt but it definitely helped. Tomorrow is a rest day (not because I want to, but because my schedule is FULL!) so hopefully I can run some more Thursday. Maybe the rest will do me good.

Started the Gold Canyon Candle fundraiser yesterday....hoping for some great success! Also working on and praying for the ability to hold a back to school dance for families and fundraise at the same time. Just waiting on God to clear the path.....

TODAY I AM THANKFUL FOR: Good music, the wind to cool me down and as always, the health to master this training. To all those fighting cancer, today's favorite song is dedicated to YOU. No matter the outcome of your fight, YOU WILL SURVIVE.

Love, peace and happy training!

Run details: 1.75 miles outside, mostly walking, shins better after a good stretch. Fingers crossed!

Headed in the right direction

Today I put one foot in front of the other and did 2+ good miles. Some walking, some running, but the whole time I was thinking about how lucky I am to be able to even be out there training. Getting the beginnings of a good set of shin splints. Gonna push my way through it though.....nothing is going to make me stop!

Considering my advanced age (39!) and how my body is not really excited about this new found effort and energy being put into training, my theme song for this race is Eminem's "Lose Yourself". Good stuff and just what I need!

You better lose yourself in the music

The moment, you own it, you better never let it go

You only get one shot, do not miss your opportunity to blow

This opportunity comes once in a lifetime, yo

You can do anything you set your mind to, man

Love, peace and happy training!

Run details: 2.25 miles outside, painful shins!

Welcome to my Team In Training home page!

As many of you know, I've done several marathons for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training Program since 2005 - Honolulu 2005, Nashville 2007, San Diego 2010 (fully fundraised but did not race due to injuries). All told, I've raised over $13,000 for LLS to find a cure and STOP leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking any more lives!

My heart for this cause cannot rest. I've jumped in full steam ahead to run the Nike Women's Marathon in San Francisco on October 16, 2011 (just 28 days after my 40th birthday!) and I NEED YOUR HELP!

Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission.

I hope you will visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your support...from the bottom of my heart to the tip of my running shoes!!
