Racing to Save Lives
I'm back for my 5th season with Team in Training, gearing up to complete the Nike Women's Half Marathon on October 17, 2010 as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives.
This season, I am dedicating my efforts in memory of my friend, John Kark, who has been an inspiration to me throughout my involvement with TNT and who recently passed away after his second battle with Leukemia. John (and people in communities everywhere just like him) is the real hero on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
It is my goal this year to raise $5,000 for the Leukemia Society - it's a lofty goal, but I know John would say to keep fighting for it. Through his experience, I've seen what a personal impact the funds we raise have on the quality of life of people battling blood cancers.
