Twelve year old Coco Lazenby was taken from us far too soon on August 8th in a tragic car accident.
Her mother, Kate, is a friend of mine and has been a TNT participant and volunteer mentor for many years. One of the biggest reasons many of us keep coming back to TNT season after season is the amazing people we meet doing this. Kate is at the top of the most amazing. We love her, she is family.
Coco has been a part of the TNT family as well. She'd often come to track practices over the years and sit quietly reading a book. She and her dad, Aaron, cooked the team a delicious dinner in the past and delivered it to the team after practice.
Although Coco's passing wasn't blood cancer related, she's TNT family. So we as a team are doing what we know how to do: we're dedicating our season to Coco Lazenby and have decided to raise funds collectively in Coco's name.
Our fundraising goal as a team is $100,000, and if we meet that mark our donation will qualify for a research grant for Lymphoma and Leukemia in Coco’s name.
I will be running the Nike Women's Half Marathon on October 18th in Coco's memory, and hope to raise $1,000 to help contribute to Team Coco's success.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR TAX DEDUCTIBLE DONATION!
