My TNT Hike Team and I are heading off to Joshua Tree for our big hike in just a few weeks!!! Photo above as we started our almost 6 hour hike at Muir Woods/Mt. Tam last Saturday. I am getting really close to my fundraising minimum. Will you please make a donation now to help those with a blood cancer? Just in the last month someone near and dear to me was dignosed with Leukemia, luckily it is early stage,  no current treatment necessary. So I am even more determined to raise over $4000 this year!

I am determined to raise as much money for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society as I can. I am also determined to be as fit and well trained as possible for our event day hike in Joshua Tree National Park on November 8th. I am just back from vacation in Colorado - it was a week filled with family, hiking (my Dad and niece Rosalie in pix on the trail), lots of rain and to my delighted surprise several donations to LLS on my behalf. I am looking forward to heading to Joshua Tree for our TNT event hike on November 8th. Until then I look forward to many fun training hikes and hopefully lots more donations for this worthy cause!

It was great to have my first official Team in Training group hike today! I committed to the team a few months back and I have been fundraising and hiking on my own since then, but being part of a team makes all the difference. Have companionship on the trail, making new friends, including another Sara "no H, because H's are Ew!" (Jimmy Fallon reference for those not in the know) and hearing from honored teammates is quite satisfying to the soul. The shot above is from the foothills of Mt. Diablo, it was beautiful there and the views were fantastic. I look forward to the next 14 weeks of training with the my team - Go Team!

I have found that camaraderie is very important on the hiking trail! I am looking forward to hitting the trail with the Bay Area TNT hike team later in the summer as we train for our event in Joshua Tree in November. Until then I will mostly rely on my four-legged friend Bella (photos above from our hike in Redwood Regional Park on Saturday) for companionship on the trail. I feel much more confident and secure on the trail knowing I am with someone else who is enjoying the exercise and natural beauty surrounding us as much as I do. Let me know if you want to go for a hike with me - I welcome hiking pals that are more adept at conversation that Bella!
