WELCOME TO MY TEAM IN TRAINING (TNT) HOME PAGE!        

Oh Yes, it's true I'm back pounding the pavement, or, as my tshirt says "Kicking ass-phalt", to beat Blood Cancers.  I believe this is my 24th or 25th Season with Team in Training.  I have walked 7 full marathons, and atleast 15 half marathons as a fund raiser for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.  Just to put the icing on the cake, I have also hiked the Grand Canyon and in Yosemite and xc skied in Alaska to raise funds for them.

I hope that all that training - possibly 350 miles of training per Season - and fund raising has been as good for LLS as it has been for me, because I have just signed up again to Walk the half marathon in The Mayors Marathon in Anchorage as a gift to me for my 80th birthday! I think I'll keep on doing this until we hear that Blood cancers are no longer an incureable diagnosis.  (Beware, a Nancy Ryder in spandex at age 99 may not be a pretty sight!).

I will be doing the regular every Saturday Training - up to 11 or 12 miles by the last few before the event in June - and the everyday calendar training of walks or stretching and core workouts to get me ready to do the whole darn thing in style!  Believe me there will be pain but not like the pain of - 

• the little kids, babies, really, who have never known any thing but blood tests Radiation,and Chemo!
• the teens who are watching their baseball team from a hospital bed, instead of from the dugout. 
• the young adults who cannot begin making plans for happy marriages instead of plans for how to fill the time waiting to get their blood levels high enough just to go home.
• people my age who won't be healthy enough to see a new grandchild or great gandchild come into the world!
