Three weeks to go
May 19, 2015 by Andrew Rich
With just three weeks to go before AMBBR (June 7) I am feeling great about the ride. My cycle training is helping my run training and vice-versa; in fact, last weekend I achieved a new Personal Record in the half-marathon. This coming weekend, the TnT NorCal cycle team will do our last and longest team ride: 83 miles. Then, a tapering ride of around 30 miles, and a week later, the big one. 100 miles around Lake Tahoe.
Old La Honda summit. Achievement: unlocked.
With the upcoming conclusion of the training season comes the corresponding end of the fundraising season -- tomorrow, May 20 -- and I have just $290 left to raise to meet my goal of $2,500. Please help me reach that milestone on my way to completing my fourth Team in Training season. Just click the "Donate" button on the right side of this page.
Edited to add: Thank you to my last donors -- I just hit my fundraising goal!

The AMBBR training season started in mid-February, and a little over a month in I am feeling terrific. We meet every Saturday for either a full team ride or an informal "buddy ride", with distance increasing by five miles each week; last Saturday we did 30 miles from Woodside to Los Altos. With eleven weeks remaining until the century ride, I expect a few ten-mile jumps to get us to the full hundred, but I think I can handle it. The Cannondale Synergy road bike I bought for last year's triathlon is working out very well, and I'm supporting the local economy by keeping Sports Basement in business.
My fundraising is also going well, with a current total (as of March 23) of $1,705 of my goal of $2,500 raised for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. I'm grateful for the support of everyone who has donated so far, but I'm not there yet. Did that tax refund arrive and you're looking to make an early start on next year's charitible deductions? LLS is a 501(c)(3) organization, so donations are fully tax deductible. LLS has made amazing strides in finding treatments for devastating forms of cancer and I'm proud to support their efforts; I'm in turn asking again for your help. Hit up the Donate Now button over there on the right.
Thanks, and GO TEAM!

I've officially signed up for the 2015 "America's Most Beautiful Bike Ride" next June. This will be my fourth Team in Training season and third class of event (marathon, triathlon, century ride). My fundraising goal is $2,500 and I've already made a decent start, but I'd really like to have the majority of fundraising complete before the season officially starts next spring so I can concentrate on training for a 100-mile race around Lake Tahoe.
You already know about the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's mission, their great recent achievements in funding successful blood cancer treatments and what a terrific organization they are overall. Over the past three seasons I've raised over $8,000 for LLS and this upcoming season will take me over the $10,000 mark.
Help a great cause by clicking the Donate button and giving what you can. Many companies offer charity match programs, so you may even be able to double your donation. And thank you for your support.
