Hello friends & family,

I've joined a sports endurance event--The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Team In Training--to help find cures and effective treatments for blood cancer.

I may ride up to 100 miles on June 1 to raise funds for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease, and myeloma medical research. The team's immediate goal, with your help, is to improve the quality of life for patients and their families.

Please make a donation to support my very first bicycle ride for LLS. It's a daunting challenge! Your contribution will help advance blood cancer research and improve the lives of everyone in need.

Feb. 1 Kick-off meeting at Sports Basement. We learn about our June 1 ride on America's Most Beautiful Bike Ride in Lake Tahoe, CA. Experts give tips about safe & healthy riding techniques. Go Team!

Feb. 8 Team meeting in Livermore in drenching downpour. We stay dry inside, as coaches offer advice on routes, nutrition, and post-ride stretches. Volunteers check bikes for proper fit and host a "gear swap."

Feb. 15 Our first ride! Nearly nineteen miles of gentle slopes and twisty descents on woodsy roads in Moraga. Sore muscles for this newbie, but a beautiful rural ride.

Feb. 22 The enormity of the task is sinking in. But our pace is picking up. Twenty-eight miles of beautiful scenery near Woodside, CA, with rolling hills and lake views.

March 1 The rain holds as we ride 22.2 miles near China Camp in San Rafael. At lunch we celebrate the cancer survivors who've joined the ride. It's a team effort!

March 8 The team rides along the bay in Tiburon on a beautiful day. I sit this one out with a sore ankle, but practice a bit on the stationery bike.
