13.1 Miles? But why?
We are running the Rock 'n' Roll Seattle half-marathon to raise money for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society on June 26.
Josh's sister Rebekah was diagnosed with leukemia when she was 16. The whole family moved to Seattle in May 2001 so Rebekah could receive treatment at the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance. She underwent chemotherapy and had a bone marrow transplant.
In April, Rebekah returned to Kansas, finished high school, danced at her senior prom nd attended college for a semester. In November 2002, she went back to Seattle. She passed away on Christmas Eve 2002 from pneumonia -- a complication of her leukemia.
We're not runners and we're 1,000 miles apart, but we've got a training plan, coaches and the support of family and friends to keep us going.
Help us reach our goal. Running 13.1 miles is nothing compared to what cancer patients go through every day. The LLS is the world's largest organization dedicated to blood cancer research. The LLS has funded more than $680 million in cancer research since 1954.
Thank you for your support,
Jackie and Josh
