Feb. 7 I lost my friend Trice Ward to cancer. With her husband's blessing I have dedicated my participation in the June 6 Rock 'n' Roll Marathon in San Diego to her memory. Feb. 26 I lost my friend and mentor Andrew Jaffe. He was my patient hero last fall for Nike -- and I'm now running in his memory as well. In doing so I will be raising funds for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. A diagnosis of leukemia or any form of cancer pulls the innocent into a fight they did not chose nor provoke. The LLS has asked me to raise $2900 -- I'm aiming for $10,000. I know that now might not be the best time to ask people to donate, but the number of people being diagnosed isn't slowing down so neither can I. Sorry to say, cancer is recession proof. So please donate what you can. At our group training sessions I ask my teammates: "If there's no place you'd rather be than right here, right know working to whip leukemia, gimme a HELL YEAH!" -- so all donations $10 and above will get a GIMME A HELL YEAH! orange bracelet.
