may 3 - is it really a month away?
wow. just one month to go.
so we're about a month away. time really does fly when you are having fun, doesn't it? i am really excited because all of the people i am mentoring for this race committed to going and together we are going to raise more than $30,000 for the lls. incredible.
my training is going great too. i ran 19 this weekend, and by myself too, because i had waterstop duty. the run felt great and i am really feeling like this is going to be a strong run.
thanks to all of you who have supported me. i am still a bit shy of my goal but working on it. if you are here and reading this maybe you could consider supporting me witha $10 donation? it sure woul d mean a lot and help me move that thermometer.
march 26 - time flies when you are having fun
i can't believe how long it's been sincce i have updated this
well hello. it's been more than a month since i have updated this and i haven't been blogging much about our san diego team eitther. although, let's get one thing clear; it isn't because i am not excited about our team. how could i not be? we have more than 60 people running in our combined san diego/seattle team and we are the most enthusiastic group ever. i've just been super busy, training, mentoring and even signing up to do an ultra-marathon once this one is over.
we're up to 8 miles this weekend. we're hitting the point where people are begining to run longer than they every have before and it's such an amazing thing to watch.
our honored hero, lindy has been out many times to and she is great. she, and the people doing these marathons for the first time, remind me of why we do this.
to save lives and enable people to accomplsh extraordinary things.
can you help us?
february 13 - our team is huge
it's almost unfathomable how many people we are going to be taking west
i was in orange county this week for a quick business trip. i did an easy six miles around the streets of santa ana and costa mesa. as i was breathing in the warm, dry southern california air, i thought, this is what it is going to be like in a few months wen we hit san diego for this run.
how exciting is it that ourr team is so huge. we will be taking more than 60 people to california with us for the run. it's possible our team will raise more than $100,000 for research, patient support and other vital services for honored heros dealing with blood cancer.
of course your support is a crucial piece of that so i appreciate all you do. since you made it this far, how about clicking the button and just giving $10? you will help me hit my goal and help us find a cure.
january 29 - tomorrow's the day
first group training tomorrow. another journey begins
another journey to 26.2 with a new amazing group of people begins tomorrow. we'll assemble at peachtree presbyterian church for the first of many group training sessions. we'll listen to our georgia head coach tommy ownes and then head out for a brief three mile run.
in a few months, the runs will be double digit mileage and we'll all know each other better than ever. but it starts standing in a cold parking lot, shuffling feet and introducing ourselves to strangers.
we've got a big team training for san diego. we'll raise amonsgt us tens or thousands of money for blood cancer research, maybe even six figures.
this is what it's all about. and it starts tomorrow.
january 24 - i'm BACK!!!
one more time, running for a cure for all blood cancers
well there i am finishing the marine corps marathon. i ran the 26.2 in my second best time ever and blew away my goald for fundraising for the leukemia and lymphoma society. no way to call it anything other than an unqualified success.
it seems, friends, that i just can't stop. i have this odd addiction to running marathons and raising money for a cure for blood cancers. so, i am back on more time, raising money for the leukemia and lymphoma society through the team in training program. last year, i ran two marathons with team in training, and through your generous support, was able to raise more than $6,000 for research and patient services for those affected by cancer.
this time it's san diego. i am going to run 26.2 on the pacific ocean and knock califronia off of the list of states to run a marathon in. it's a new course, new season and the racee is benefiting the leukemia and lymphoma society.
over that year, i have met some incredible people your dollars have helped directly. one day, i was running a training run for the marine corps marathon and woman pulled up alongside me and rolled down her window. "i am a leukemia survivor," she said. "thanks for being out here. thanks for everything you do."
with expreiences like that, it's hard not to come back and do this again and again and again.
thank you for your support. please consider a small donation to help me get to my goal of $3100. even if you can only give $5 or $10, it makes a difference.
and keep checking back here. i'll be updating this site as i progress through training.
