Racing to Save Lives Welcome to my Team In Training home page. I'm training to participate in an endurance event as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. I will be headed out to San Deigo to run a marathon on May 31. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. To me this isn't just another fundraiser, it's much more personal. As most of you know, my mother Benita Vaughn pictured above, lost her battle with myeloma last January. She was truely an inspiration to everyone that met her and my hero. I am glad that I can do something to try and fight this cancer in her memory and for everyone else who has, had, and will have this cancer. Our team will also be running for Jordon, a 15 year old boy who was diagnosed with Acute Promyelocyctic Leukemia in July 2008. He has completed his induction therapy which included chemotherapy and is now in the consolidation therapy phase. Jordon hopes be done soon so that he can begin hish freshman year at South Effingham County High School. He turned 15 on Jan. 30th and likes to fish, play piano and percussion. He will be our living inspiration. Every one of you either has had/has some type of cancer or knows someone that has been/is infected. Well this is your chance to help me raise money to fight this cancer. I truly appreciate anything you can do to help. Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission. We need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure! If you would rather make a donation by check, it can be made out to The Lukemia and Lymphoma Society and mailed to P.O. Box 24362 St. Simons Island, GA 31522 Thanks for your support, Holli |
