Team In Training’s Race Across America Team cyclists will ride across country as a team of eight to raise funds to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
As Bruce Zavodny, 2012 crew member, put it, “Our cyclists trained aggressively to cover great distances …They had a mission. Raise funds and awareness for much needed research to help promote more cures for blood cancers.” After cycling and racing across the country three of the past five years at the Race Across America (RAAM)—a feat they accomplished in under eight days on all occasions—a team of Atlanta-area men and women will yet again venture 3,000 miles from Oceanside, California to Annapolis, Maryland in June 2014, all in the name of a cure.
Collectively between the prior three years of participating, Race Across America participants have fundraised an incredible $390,000 for the Georgia Chapter of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team In Training program. This year, the goal is to raise $250,000 to benefit LLS!
Team In Training is the largest charity endurance training program in the country that provides runners, walkers, triathletes, cyclists and hikers with certified coaching, a four to six month comprehensive training program, and event entry for major marathons, triathlons, cycle centuries and hike adventures. Each participant trains in honor of a local leukemia, lymphoma, or myeloma patient or survivor while raising funds to support research for blood cancers. Team In Training accounts for approximately 40,000 finishers every year. Since 1988, Team In Training has trained over half a million athletes nationwide and has raised over $1.4 billion!
