Running to Save Lives

FOLLOW OUR PROGESS AT THE BOTTOM OF THE PAGE...

Robert & I are training to participate in a marathon as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives.

We are completing this event in honor of ALL individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!

Why do we wear purple? (a) it's our favorite color; (b) red & pink have already been taken; (c) it's the symbol of hope; (d) purple people power sounds cool.

If you answered (d), you're correct, especially when you witness several people in purple running down the road - quite an awesome sight early on Saturday mornings. All those motivated to make a difference.

But the REAL answer my friend is (c), purple is the symbol of HOPE. Hope is what people fighting leukemia, lymphoma and other blood related cancers NOW have. We, together, can provide HOPE to patients and their families by raising the funds to keep research going.

Please consider making a donation to support our participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission.

Everyone knows someone touched by cancer, include their name in an e-mail to us at rimcin@bellsouth.net and we will dedicate our run to them as well.

I hope you will visit our web site often to monitor our progress!

Thank you so much for your support.

One mile at a time,

Rhonda and Robert

1/6/10 A six mile run in the sleet & freezing rain - actually we all (yes Cameron ran as well) had a terrific run

1/11/10 An eight miler in Piedmont Park, here we go

1/15/10 Ten miles already....with a little energy to spare

1/22/10 Twelve was a little tough, but we did it! - Not near as tough as the many folks battling cancer everyday

2/21/10 Ah, sweet sixteen! Yes, 16.

2/27/10 Charles Harris 10K, Cameron qualified for the Peachtree Road Race doing this event. He's much faster than Mom and keeps Dad on his toes - literally.

3/6/10 Went for eighteen, yes 18, and we did it! Not for speed, but for distance. The first mile was silent to keep our focus - remembering those presently fighting and those whom lost their fight....why we run.....

3/13/10 Why is 8 miles so much harder than 18? It was! I had to reach deep every step. Some runs/days are better than others.

3/21/10 The ING Half + 7 = 21, yes we completed 21. All in all a pretty good run, the last 4 was a wee bit stiff. Now for the taper before tackling 26.2
