Racing to Save Lives
Hey Friends and Family!
As most of you know, I've recently lost 45 pounds and have been working diligently to live a healthy lifestyle. Now that I'm close to meeting my weight loss goal, I've decided to make a new one - completeing the Nike Women's Half Marathon on October 17th, 2010 in San Francisco. Six months ago, I balked at the idea of running 13.1 miles but I want to accomplish this goal and make a difference in the lives of others while completing my personal goal.
I''m training to participate in the Nike Women's Half Marathon as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. We are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of Ja'Naya. She is currently battling against leukemia and winning!
As I run I will think of Ja'Naya's strength. I will also remember my Aunt Helen and her daughter who were unable to win their battle against Leukemia. It is my hope that one day there will be a cure for these diseases.
Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission to fiind a cure. I would like to meet my goal by August 6th that way I can focus on training.
