Racing to Save Lives
Welcome to my Team-In-Training Home Page! .
I am training to run the Lake Tahoe Super Triple, assuming this 46 year old body will hold up.
The Lake Tahoe Super Triple is a challenging multi-day run at altitude, circumnavigating the shoreline of Lake Tahoe. The Lake Tahoe Super Triple includes two marathon in two days plus a 72.2 mile run around the shoreline of Lake Tahoe on the 3rd day (26.2 miles + 26.2 miles + 72.2. miles = 124.6 miles). The event will occur September 24-26, 2010.
What is my motivation for attempting this event? There is of course the personal challenge; however, the main reason is to help raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training Program.
I am seeking donations or pledges for each mile I will run over the event weekend. I am paying my own way to the event; therefore, all proceeds raised will go directly to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Please consider pledging and help find a cure for blood cancers.
Pledge Options
10 cents per mile = $12.46 for the Super Triple
25 cents per mile = $31.15 for the Super Triple
50 cents per mile = $62.30 for the Super Triple
$1.00 per mile = $124.60 for the Super Triple
How to Help?
If you are interested in making a pledge, please send me an e-mail at ferrell_ed@comcast.net indicating your interest and the amount per mile amount you want to pledge.
Over event weekend I will send out updates on how each of the marathons went and will post updates on Facebook.
At the completion of the event, I will send an e-mail with the number of miles I ran and your corresponding pledge amount. You can either make a donation directly on this website (at right) or send a check to:

A Message From Ed and Marie
Family and friends,
Thank-you for visiting our Team-in-Training Fundraising page. In October 2006, my wonderful sister-in-law, Julie Ashley Cole, passed away from Leukemia after a 2 year battle against the disease. Since then, my wife and I have been fundraising on behalf of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society through their Team-in-Training (TNT) program. I am once again reaching out to you to help us in the fight to end blood cancers. Though tremendous advances have been made, there is still a long way to go. In the short time since Julie’s death, 560,000 individuals have been diagnosed with a blood cancer and an additional 212,000 individuals have died from a blood cancer. An estimated 825,000 Americans are living with leukemia, Hodgkin and non-Hodgkin lymphoma, and myeloma.
The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society is an excellent organization and is the world's largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research, education and patient services. Their Team-in-Training (TNT) program is the largest endurance sports training organization in the world. TNT participants, in exchange for receiving professional coaching and support, raise funds to help support the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in their efforts to end blood cancers. Over the course of 22 years, over 420,000 participants have raised over $1 billion dollars for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
Almost 30 years ago I started running to control my weight and at some point I picked up the nasty habit of running marathons. Over the years I have run a lot of marathons, mostly for selfish reasons….. To allow me to eat Tex-Mex, chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream, and to travel to exotic locations such as Cincinnati, OH and South Bend, IN. After Marie joined TNT following her sister’s death, I knew we had found an organization where we could make a difference and where my passion for running can be shared with others. Since 2006 we have raised almost $15,000 for the Society and have helped mentor and coach several hundred walkers and runners to successfully complete an endurance event while they raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for the Society.
Marie and I are continuing our efforts to do what we can to help put an end to blood cancers in memory of Julie and we need your help. Please make a donation to support our participation in Team-In-Training and help advance the Society's mission. No amount is too large or too small.
We whole heartedly believe in the society and can promise you that the money you donate will be used to make a difference by funding cancer research, providing education and patient outreach services, and supporting the extraordinary work of the Society.
Thanks for your support!
Ed & Marie
