Welcome to our team's Team In Training home page.
We are training to participate in an endurance event as members of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. We are completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
Please make a donation to support my team's participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission.
We hope you will visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see our progress. Thanks for your support!

Week one of "training" is in the bag~ after being snowed in for the majority of the week I feel as though training hasnt even begun :-( tomorrow we have a spin class for 80 minutes that sounds like as much fun as sitting on a bag of tacks... but there are so many people who we are figting for that would love to join us that tomorrow will be our honor to partcipate in.

WOW, a month and a half of training has already passed us by! Now the norm is sore muscles and early mornings. But I bet Kevin Campbell and his daughter Erin would much rather be out training with us through all the blood sweat and tears, than stuck in that hospital. It is amazing how things that we do can influence so many people that we never even meet. The money and awareness we raise here in Georgia influences the entire world. TNT has raised over a BILLION dollars to fight Leakemia and Lymphoma and we arent going to stop until great people like the Campbells are no longer affected by these terrible dieases.

It seems I cant get back here often enough to update this page, but today its with a heavy heart that I am here.
Our dear friend Erin Campbells father, Kevin, has lost his battle with AML. You can see his journey at his Caring Bridge page as linked above. Although I never had the opportunity to meet Kevin, his legacy was evident in his daughter Erin and through the rest of the peoples lives that he touched. All the adoration and love pouring in from all of the people who will miss this great human being is truly heartbreaking as well as uplifting. It is these stories of loss, that happen all too often, that make what we are doing here so important. I dont ever want to hear of another wonderful person leaving us too soon due to this these terrible diseases. CANCER IS BEATABLE... TOGETHER WE CAN DO IT!
We are willing to swim the murky waters, bike the mountains and run the roads, mile after mile.... all we ask is that you make it your daily pledge to do something, anything, to better the world we live in, so that perhaps more people like Erin can enjoy more time with the ones they love.

WOW, another month has gone by and I am at a loss for where it went. Seems like life has this way of pssing you by and before you know it today is yesterdays tomorrow... ha ha thats kinda funny but true....
Anyway, I recently sent out an email to A LOT of you and was very suprised by the responses and its only been 24 hours.... nearly ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS has been donated by our friends, family and coworkers in that time.... What a difference a day can make.
I really want you to take that statement to heart... "what a difference a day can make"... because what you do TODAY can make all the difference in someones tomorrow. Maybe even your own~~
No one chooses to have Cancer, you never choose to be ill, but you can choose to give someone who does have this terrible disease a better quality of life and perhaps even another shot at a birthday, a graduation, a Christmas.... There are millions of us out there that miss loved ones because they were robbed of those precious memories by this silent killer, wont you give them one more day?
I know its sounds cheesy and corny and alot of other cliche words but its true, as a whole we need each other and Cancer isn't just going to go away... so do your part and donate, if not your money, then your time. It is beatable... almost everything is....if you try hard enough.
An Ironman is a day, Chemo is months and Death is forever... so for those that cant, WE MUST!

ANOTHER REASON WE NEED TO KEEP FIGHTING... IRON MAN MIKE... A REAL IRONMAN IF THERE EVER WAS ONE~~~~
Support him and his family here~~~ http://ironmanmike.bbnow.org/
Michael Wanser is the 6 year old son of two Minisink graduates, Laurie Roberts & Barry Wanser, and the Big Brother of Robert. Growing up, Michael had always been a strong, active and generally healthy boy. Michael loved to wrestle with his brother Robert and play with all his buddies. He has a great sense of humor and has had a big impact on many people in a short time.
However, shortly after Thanksgiving last year, Michael was diagnosed with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia ("AML"), the toughest form of leukemia to fight in children. Since then, he has been bravely waging his battle at St. Jude in Memphis, TN, with his family always by his side. His family, without hesitation made selfless sacrifice after selfless sacrafice to support Michael in his fight. While Laurie stayed with Michael, being away from Barry & Robert; Barry had to do everything he could to ensure their house was still a home for little brother Robert while accepting the difficult fact that he couldn't always be by Michael's side. Michael has been courageously fighting the battle of his life and giving it everything he has, receiving chemotherapy and bone marrow transplants and never giving up. The family never once wavered in its conviction and positive attitude.
At the end of September, the family made the decision to take Michael home, to enjoy the time they have left as a family. They conitnue to demonstrate amazing strength, courage, love and, yes, a sense of humor. To quote his mom "His courage and faith are unmatched and it's time to let him be our angel. He said he'll sneak from heaven to smack my butt!"
Shortly before noon, on Sunday, October 23, 2011; Michael Wanser moved onto the next phase of his journey. He now has his Angel Wings. May he rest in peace and may his memory forever be with the many people he touched in his short time on this earth.
