And the winner is.....

(drumroll, please)....

Curtis Hertwig!

Congratulations, Curtis and, what's more, Happy Double-Nickel Day! Thank you for your support this year.

There were a total of 443 chances alloted in the raffle for the quilt (based on people who indicated they were interested in the quilt). Everyone in the raffle was assigned a range of numbers, corresponding to the number of chances they received. Then a number was drawn from the u[1, 443] distribution.

Progress!
Mar 25, 2011 by Megan Lutz

Hi Folks! Progress is being made, both in the treatment of blood cancers and in my current journey towards riding in Fletcher in June!

I have SURPASSED my personal, preliminary goal of $1500 raised for LLS through Team in Training, but am not done!

I would like to invite you all to an evening of fun and games, all to benefit LLS via my friend Becky (who's competing in the Tri Latta Triathlon in North Carolina with the TEAM this summer) and me.

What: Minute to Win It Challenge

Where: O'Terrill's (512 Piedmont Ave, Atlanta, GA 30308)

When: 2 April 2011

Time: 6:00p - 8:00p

We have secured prizes from places including Kroger and Zoo Atlanta! I hope to see you there!

Mardi Gras Challenge: Final Result
Mar 09, 2011 by Megan Lutz

Thanks to all who donated this past week! And, thanks to "Anonymous", this Easter season I will be giving up walking. That is, if I must go anywhere on foot, I must run.

What a challenge, indeed!

Lenten Challenge Update
Mar 07, 2011 by Megan Lutz

Well Played, Anonymous!

For those of you just tuning in, whoever donates the largest amount by the end of Mardi Gras (Tuesday, 8 March... tomorrow!) gets to pick what I give up for Lent.

I appeal to all of you, let me walk! My knees and hips will thank you! Someone, please top out over $250!

And Anonymous... thank you for your generosity, you jerk! Whatever the outcome of this challenge, I am grateful for your generosity and am more than honored to ride with and for Warren. (BTW, I am going to walk while teaching -- if I were to run back and forth instead of my usual pacing at the board, I would be more ridiculous than I already am.)

Tax Deductions and Refund Rally!
Feb 25, 2011 by Megan Lutz

Well, folks, it's Tax Season. I'm sure many of you reading this are not total suckers like me and so are receiving refunds this year. (I, a lowly grad student, owe. a LOT. I'll tell you, those two checks I just wrote hurt.)

If you, unlike me, are receiving a refund, consider the following:

1. It was an interest-free loan to the government

2. No one is ever *completely* happy with how the government spends its money

3. You didn't miss it this past year, anyway, so...

4. Consider donating 10% of your refund towards my effort with Team in Training this year. It's 100% tax deductible, so that's less money going towards #1 in the list above for next year. Everyone wins!
