Training for a CURE!
Jan 12, 2013
It's official! After crossing the finish line in the Mayor's Marathon in Alaska this past June with Team In Training (my first ever endurance event), I have decided to join the TEAM again to complete my first triathlon! I will be completing the ELEVEN Lake Oconee Olympic triathlon on May 11, 2013. That's a .93 mile swim, 25 mile bike ride, and a 6.2 mile run!
Now that I have a snazzy bike, I am ready for training to begin...
Thanks to all of my wonderful friends and family that supported me, I was able to raise over $4,400 as a first time participant for Team In Training.
This season, I will be training in honor of Jason Cadena who continues to inspire and motivate me as a cancer survivor. He recently received a clean 3 month PET scan and is back at GCSU finishing his degree! This time last year Jason was in critical care in the hospital with Stage 3 T Cell Lymphoblastic Lymphoma, battling for his life. His oncology doctor's remind him daily that due to the massive inoperable tumor in his chest and his overall diagnosis it is a true miracle that he is alive and doing so well!
My goal this season is to raise $2,000 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). LLS has made SO many huge impacts on blood cancer research and I am thrilled to be a part of the $1.32 billion raised to reach the ultimate finish line of a cure for cancer!
Someday is TODAY! Visit the LLS website at http://www.lls.org/ to learn more about the promising research that is being conducted and join our mission to cure cancer by donating to LLS!
Thanks in advance for your support!
