I never thought I would say this...but thank goodness for Mondays! Mondays and Fridays are off days for training and buddy did I need one today. We're still at 3 miles...but that's not going to last long! We begin increasing our miles in 2 weeks and I'm nervously excited. Not that I've exactly mastered the 3 miles, but I can't wait to see what we accomplish together as a TEAM. I'm trying to figure out how to have the same motivational and encouraging TEAM go with me everywhere....kinda like a Polly Pocket or My Buddy...

I ran in the damp cold this past Saturday with Jordan on my mind. Jordan is 14 years old and was our Honored Hero for Light The Night this year. His mom, Tina, is training with us! Jordan had to go to the hospital this week due to a high fever and we did not have an update as of Saturday morning. I'm thrilled that Tina and her family will be joining us in Disney World for what is sure to be an emotional race for us all....

Well tomorrow is a new day...one with a 3 mile run in my future. Weatherman calls for a sunny day, which means an outside run is a possibility. But on the other hand, there's not as many hills on a treadmill.... :)

Hello!!!

Meet Lauraine. Lauraine is an Auburn grad who has an incredible love for life. She is enthusiastic, fun-loving and has a wonderfully positive attitude.

I met Lauraine in September 2009 when I began working at The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). At that point, she was a cancer survivor - having battled....and beat...Hodkin's Lymphoma...twice. All of that changed when her cancer returned this summer. She is now in her 3rd round of treatment and doing really well!! I truly can't imagine what she has already faced in her young life and admire her courage and strong will.

I will be running 13.1 miles in honor of Lauraine...and many others who you will be learning about during my journey. On February 27th, I will be running the Disney Princess Half Marathon in Orlando in honor of the nearly 1 million Americans who are currently battling blood cancers in America. For those of you that know me know that is a BIG deal for me!! I am not a runner....and definitely not a half marathon runner! I have been training for the past month and will continue to do so until the race. I would not be able to accomplish this milestone in my life without the support and training provided by Team In Training, as well as my wonderful fiance and family.

How can you help?? I am raising money for research, for hope, for a cure so that no one has to hear the words "You have cancer" in their lifetime. I am asking you to make a donation - any amount is greatly appreciated - so that cancer patients can live better, longer lives. Thank you in advance for your generous support. Please check back to keep updated on my training progress!! Read on for more info on LLS...

Racing to Save Lives

Welcome to my Team In Training home page.

I'm training to participate in an endurance event as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!

Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission.

I hope you will visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your support!
