update ten - TWENTY!!!!

the last long run and i killed it

last weekend was it. the twenty. the longest of the long runs. the hardest one to do. the end of training. the start of the taper. and i killed it. i mean killed it. the run was good from moment one until the end. seriously, i never even really flagged. in fact the person i was running with noticed about mile 16 that i actually seemed to be getting stronger as the run went on.

so i am feeling good about this race. i think it might be a really solid run.

and i would feel even better if you donated a few bucks to the cause. nothing left to do but go 26.2!!!!

update nine - so this is it

septmeber comes and goes, nothing left to do but run twenty and race

it's almost that time. september, by far the most aggressive month of training has come and gone. all that's left is tomorrow's 20 mile run, a taper and race day. september was definitely a month of triumph and struggle. the 18 miler i ran at the beginning of the month was one of the best long runs i have ever had. perfect weather, great companionship - just a blast (i wrote about it on my blog here - http://thearcoftime.com/?p=1318.) it was also the moment of perhaps the most struggle and the hardest run that i have done in my running career it was the 19 miler that i did with a sinus cold in 4 hours of pouring rain. this thing was so tough that many times i didn't actually think i was goiing to finish. i titled the blog post i wrote about it perserverance (http://thearcoftime.com/?p=1328).

so we say goodbye to september and welcome in october. race month. i am feeling good and am almost there. it's going to be a great race and i thank each and every one of you for the support and the donations. i just need a little more to get me over the hump.

feel like helping out?

update eight - goodbye august

the hottest, most humid month i have ever run in won't be missed

if you have been following things on my blog over at thearcoftime.com then you are probably aware of how tough this month has been for me. the humidity has really been unmatched and i have really had to struggle with these runs. the twelve-miler this month was particularly hard, and a few of the mid-week eights definitely took it out of me. But through it all i have kept going, finishing the runs and gettin the training in. amazing, but i haven't missed a single training run in the dreadfully hot month. i am looking forward to a much cooler, much milder september. let's hope at least. eight weeks to go before the mcm. thanks for stopping by, please make a bit of a donation :-)

update seven - geez it's hot

can't a guy get a cool, non-humid day?

hey thanks for stopping by my page again. i hope by stopping by that means you are considering whipping out the old plastic and making a donation to help find a cure for blood cancer. the running has been tough through july and into august. some of this is my own scheduling - training while travelling all over the place is not easy for sure, and some of it just has to do with the humidity here in atlanta.

this is my first time training for a marathon through the hear od summer and guess i had no idea just how brutal the combination of heat and humidity can be. i have certainly been finding the runs to be harder than i am used to because of the conditions, but am finishing them and keeping myself going with the thought that it can't be this bad in d.c. in october.

update six - june in the books

finishing with the first full month

with june out of the way, the first full month of training is now in the books. i ran just over 52 miles this month, peaking at three, but as of this weekend the three milers are over. for the full tale of the tape for the month head on over to my blog http://thearcoftime.com/?p=1233. have felt good this month, although a lot of this running was done while traveling through various time zones so it was a bit difficult to keep on track.

on the fundraising front, i sit at just under $2000 , 38 percent of the way to my $5000 goal. donations have been trickling in after a huge push at the begining of the fundraising season. we're having a fundraiser at the end of june at agatha's, a taste of myster - tickets are $60, so any of you atlanta people who are interested email me, i have a table of 10 to sell.

thanks as always for the great support. more to come...

update five - national running day

training is cruising right along

did you know that today is national running day? indeed it is. check out http://www.runningday.org/ for more information on a great day desgined to get us all out and moving. you can rest assured that as part of my training i will be out there running today. my training is crusising right along. we are now through the first month of training - well call it a half month because we started midway through may - and all is going great. you can check out the stats for may here -http://thearcoftime.com/?p=1219 - as well as a ton of other updates about my training and fundraising. we're 33% of the way to my personal goal of $5000. thanks so much to everyone who has donated and if you are here for the first time, please consider a donation - even $5.

update four - kickoff!

ready to run, my friends

we had our kickoff for the fall season last night. i had an opportunity to meet some of the members of my team including my mentor and coach. they all seem like great people and i am really excited about getting to know each and every one of them over the next few months.

i was also really excited to find our that drew johnston, from the documentary "living is winning" (http://www.livingiswinning.com/) is the honored hero for our team. how cool is that? keep checking here for updates and more. thanks for stopping by and please leave a small donation if you can.

update three - tax day a huge succees!!!

thanks so much to everyone

the tax day fundraiser was a huge success. more than $500 raised in one day. thanks so much to everyone who contributed. i blew away the 10 percent goal for the day.

update two - tax day!!!

what are you doing with your refund?

happy tax day everyone. thanks for stopping by. so here is the deal, if you are getting a refund from the feds, how do you feel about directing $10 of it towards my fundraising goal? it's tax deductible to help you with that refund next year.

i am trying to raise 10 percent of my goal today ($360) which means i needd $10 from 36 people. feel like helping?

update number one - 04-12 i'm back!!!

yup, i am doing this thing again

thanks for dropping by. it seems like years ago since i croseed the finish line at the ing georgia marathon, completing my fourth race and my first with team in traning. in reality it was just a few short weeks ago.

what an incredible experience. i ran the best race of my life and raised almost $2000 for the leukemia and lymphoma society. it was such an incredible experience i decided to go for it again.

so HOOOOORAH i am running the marine corps marathon with team in training on october 25, 2009. and of course i need oyu help. i am trying to raise $3600 for the lls. i have come to truly understand the power of the society and the impact it has in people's lives. training with team i have met so many heros and survivors of blood cancer. i may not have been personally affected before i started training for ing but now i am.

this race is also special to me for my fraternity brothers who serve in the marine corps. i am really proud to run this race not just in honor of all the honored heros of the lls, but also for andy and ken, who i am so proud of for thier dedicated service to their country.

i hope you will donate and check here and on my blog at http://thearcoftime.com often for updates on my marine corps progress.
