This Sunday is the culmination of 5 months of training and fundraising. It has been a mental and physical challenge. The journey began with a lot of fear and self doubt. I couldn't imagine swimming that far in open water. What better way to face a challenge than by putting my face under water and keep swimming.
Along with facing new challenges, I wanted to help those facing the everyday challenges of battling blood cancers. What I am tri-ing is nothing compared to what they endure daily. Also, I want to help make sure that in the future no one has to face these cancers.
I can't wait to cross the finish line with my teammates. I am so happy that I had the pleasure of training with such amazing people. Each person brought their own energy to our quest and I am so grateful.
Thanks to everyone for your support, generosity and kindness. Without you, this event would not be possible. With each stroke, revolution and stride you will be there with me. Go TEAM!
The past few weeks of training have been an barrage of new. I have been in the pool at least twice a week and now I am pushing miles on a new road bike. Usually, you would find me hitting the asphalt in my running shoes.
You can teach an old dog new tricks. Everything I thought I knew about swimming was thrown out the window. After many laps of drills and steady strokes, I am starting to get the hang of proper swimming. I can't wait until it all clicks. The same applies to cycling. I've been able to ride a bike since I was a kid. However, riding long distances on tiny tires is something different. I finally bought a proper bike and I'm ready to tear up the streets.
The thing that hasn't changed is my commitment to this cause. I truly hope that with your help, we can find the ultimate finish line of a cure. Thank you for your help and generosity.
You can't spell triathlon without the word tri. Everyday, people battle blood cancers. The only option they have is to fight and tri. I am taking on a brand new challenge to help those fighting. Help me make their fighting easier by making a donation.
I'm training to participate in the St. Anthony's Triathlon on April 28, 2013 as a member of Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
Please make a donation in support of my efforts with Team In Training and help advance the research for cures. All donations are tax-deductible and no donation is too small.
