The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Team In Training Georgia Chapter Cycling Team has made me their Honored Hero for the Summer 2012 Cycling Team. I survived Stage 3 Hodgkins Lymphoma, and a stem cell transplant, and then went on to join Team in Training less than a year later and completed a tough 100 mile bike ride with them.
There was a time when my cancer would have been fatal to me. But thanks in large part to the efforts of thousands of regular people, who trained and fundraised relentlessly, they became athletes, and discoveries were made that would eventually save my life.
I am not riding with the team this year, but I am with them in spirit and the donations I raise will be split among the dedicated team members who are training hard for their event right now.
Please make a donation in support of my teammates and friends with Team In Training and help advance the research for cures.
