On a personal note, I was at Emory's Winship Cancer Institute yesterday for my quarterly bloodwork, and I got to see firsthand what your money is going to: compassionate doctors, PA, and NPs; comfortable facilities for people who have to spend way too much time there; and buckets of information for patients and their caretakers who need answers.  Your funds and the funds of others are the reason we have all of these amazing things, so once again, thank you from the bottom of my heart.

When I was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in January of 2012, I was lucky.  I had a network of support systems via my family, friends, and financial blessings.  Not everyone has access to all three of those blessings, especially the financial branch.  Through Team in Training, LLS can use your money to assist patients and their caregivers with access to treatment and services they might not be able to afford on their own.

• $400—1 lab chemistry
• $300—Assist with 1 round of radiation treatment co-pays
• $250—1 IV therapy session co-pay
• $200—1 lab test co-pay
• $100—1 round trip per day for 5 days for a patient living in rural Georgia to drive to treatment in Atlanta
• $42— 1 anti-nausea pill for a person in treatment
• $30—Allows 1 patient to make a First Connection with a trained peer volunteer
• $20—Helps pay for 1 round-trip per day for 5 days of treatment at a facility for an urban patient
• $5—Will cover the costs to send a packet to a newly diagnosed patient, which includes information on support and their specific disease
