Racing to Save Lives and Pay Tribute
Welcome to my Team In Training home page. I'm going to run a marathon and fight cancer. Help me succeed!
My mother passed away in 2006 from cancer and related complications, and it really affected me deeply. It was a heavy duty wake up call, and it came with a lot of grief and soul searching. It was a rough time.
But time heals all wounds, and the experience has taught me that life is short. You might think that I'd already know that as a grown man, but I'm a slow learner sometimes. Heh!
What does this mean? Well, it means I am driven to live well and to do good and those two goals converge in Team in Training.
Specifically, I'm going to raise $1800 to benefit the Lukemia & Lymphoma society's Team in Training, and I'm going to run a marathon. Twenty-six point two miles. Not too shabby for a guy who used to weigh 320, huh?
It is my hope that people will see me living well and doing good and be inspired to do the same for themselves. It is in this way that I remember my mother and pay tribute to her, and maybe make the world a little better along the way!
Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission. Or join up yourself and raise money and get fit!
Check out this song that my friend Mike Nessen and I sing to help raise awareness!
