Heroes (and Help) Still Wanted
Welcome to my Team In Training home page!
Thank you for taking the time to read what this is all about -- I'm training to run the P.F. Chang's Rock 'n' Roll Marathon in Phoenix this January as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training!
OK, now that you have recovered from the shock of me running a marathon (running being a liberal interpretation of a movement just barely faster than walking...), I decided to run this marathon because I needed to do something significant. I've always been an active volunteer and helping others is extremely important to me. As a member of Team in Training, I am raising funds to help the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (www.lls.org) continue its direct support to those with blood-related cancers and to help fund research to find a cure. And that is something truly significant.
So, my Team In Training Teammates and I are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood-related cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team - -but you can be a hero, too, by supporting me and by helping me reach my fundraising goals.
I hope you will visit my web site often. Check back frequently to see my progress and wish me luck that my knees hold up and that we are blessed with a mild Pennsylvania winter!
Thanks for your support! Susan
P.S. Please "Pay it forward" by passing this email along to friends and family!
P.P.S. Don't forget to check with your employer about matching gift programs within your company. You could double your donation - for free!
!! PROGRESS REPORT!!
I completed a 20 mile training last weekend and thankfully, I survived. However, we had to battle frozed horse poop piles and below freezing temps -- brrrrr! But we made it and without frostbite! Next week - 14 miles - no sweat!
Our team will be increasing our milage slowly but surely until we reach our 22 mile training run right after Christmas (Merry Christmas to me!).
You can see that my fundraising total is slowly increasing, but I still have a long way to go. Don't know how much to donate? How about $26 (a dollar per marathon mile)? Or $40 (the number of points your Philadelphia Eagles beat my San Francisco 49ers)? Or $48 (the number of home runs by Phillies Ryan Howard)?
