This February I will climb to new heights in memory of my husband, Bryan Otruba. He was only 28 when he lost his battle with Leukemia. Bryan loved to run, cook, read, pray, teach, hike and play fetch with Indiana Jones, our golden doodle.
He was a special education teacher for the Reading School District. He was a lector at Holy Guardian Angels Church where he also taught Sunday school prep. Bryan enjoyed staying active with the Alvernia University community were he earned his undergraduate and graduate degrees as well as volunteered locally and internationally on mission trips.
Bryan loved spending time with family and friends. He had an adventurous spirit that was refreshing and true. Bryan may have lost his battle, but he didn't go down without a fight. His outlook on life gave him the edge and the drive to continue on. Bryan is the bravest person I know. He didn't let a diagnosis of Cancer stand in the way of his happiness and his goals. He prayed. He persevered. He gave it his all.
With that same spirit, I now embark on a new journey with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's TEAM In Training that will take me all the way to Africa! In exchange for fundraising efforts the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society will train me for this great Adventure, Climb2Cure. This February, I will climb Mount Kilimanjaro!
I’m improving the quality of my life by participating in this climb and, with your support, I can help improve the quality of life for patients and their families as well. Will you join me in this adventure? With your support and generous donations we can work together to find a cure for blood cancers. We can create a world with less cancer and more survivors.
Thank you!
