Welcome to my Team in Training Home Page!
A Bitter Sweet Year
Seven months ago I started to focus on my health and getting back into shape. I had just turned 36 and realized I had become significantly overweight. Heart disease and diabetes runs rapid in my family and my doctor had just told me I was pre-diabetic. I was sitting in front of our bedroom window and caught a glimpse of myself; I couldn't believe how unhealthy I had become. I don't know why that moment was my turning point but I thank the Lord everyday it was! The next week I joined Medifast Weight Control (602-996-9669) Center and my results have been incredible!
I was well on my way to healthy living when I discovered one of my friends from high school; Chad Schild had the life threatening disease of acute lymphoblastic leukemia. I couldn't believe it! Not Chad! Some of my most fond memories of high school and college were the crazy times with Chad. He was kind, gentle, talented, fun and intelligent to name only a few. He truly loved life and had a passion for it!
Chad was fighting the battle of his life and continued to have his positive spirit. For that he will always be my hero! The outpouring of prayer and support from all across the country was not enough to stop the cancer from taking his life. Chad Schild passed away the morning of November 17, 2008 from complications due to his long and ongoing battle with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. I was honored to know him. My thoughts and prayers are still with his wife and family.
I was even more dedicated to my health after Chad's death. I have proceeded to loose 70.5 pounds and am feeling healthier than ever! A number of months ago I started running again. Wow! I had forgotten how much I love the sport. To me, nothing is more challenging and rewarding than a good run. I have found my passion again!
I was so blessed one Saturday to meet a Team in Training group. They were just getting back from their long run. Team in Training is an organization focused on raising money toward cures for blood cancers like leukemia. Just one catch! You have to run a marathon!
So...I am running the Seattle Rock n Roll Full marathon June 27, 2009!
Will you help me raise money to help find a cure for the disease that took Chad's life? My goal is to raise $3500 by June 10th! Any amount is so appreciated!
Chad...this one is for you my friend! I am dedicating my training and my First Marathon in your memory!
Please check back to the site from time to time to check my progress. Make sure to put it in your favorites.
With Love and Gratitude,
Michelle Schwartz
