Racing to Save Lives Welcome to my Team In Training home page! Hi Everyone!! I'm training to participate in the Rock and Roll Marathon! It takes place in January in Phoenix and I will participate as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training. I made the decision to participate with TNT after my best friend Jake was diagnosed with leukemia in April. Jake is giving his all every day to fight this cancer, and I am going to give my all to raise money for an unbelievable cause and to complete something I never thought was possible - a marathon! All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of all the individuals who are battling blood cancers and for those in our lives who have fought but did not win - for my cousin Mary Kathryn Quinn. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure! Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training! I hope you will visit my web site often. I will update my page frequently with my training progress and my fundraising accomplishments!! Thank you for your support!! Running for a cause, Lydia UPDATE 10/25: Happy Fall everyone!! We had a great run yesterday -11miles!! It is amazing so see and feel the progress I am making, my body is getting stronger and my goal continues to become more attainable. I still need $1,114 to reach my fundraising goal. If you have any fundraising ideas or know of anyone who would be interested in donating please send them this way - Jake and I appreciate all the support we can get!! UPDATE 9/6: First team practice was yesterday! We had a 40 mintue run - part of it in the rain, but overall it went really well. Thank you everyone for helping me raise more than $1000 during my first week of fundraising!! I'm excited to get started on our second week of training, but first I am going to enjoy the rest of my day off! Have a great Labor Day :) |
