With every path we run and every mile we pace, we do it with determination. Our determination: to help cure cancer! I will say it time and time again...what an AMAZING experience TNT has been...completely life-altering, for the better :).
It's not always easy, but it's worth every ache, pain, blood, sweat, and tear. We run so that no other son or daughter has to bury their parents too soon; so that best friends don't have to prematurely say good-bye; so that parents don't have to go through the pain of laying their precious angel to rest.
During the miles upon miles that we run, I often think about my niece (Annabelle), nephew (Greyson), and soon-to-enter-world twin niece and nephew. It breaks my heart that they will never be able to meet their grandma Betsy. They will never get to hear her laugh, see her smile, or even read a book with her.
Thank you to all who have supported and continue to support me in this journey to help cure cancer. I am only getting started. I will continue to live for today...as tomorrow is never a guarantee. To this I say: live life and love often :)
As a child we know that we are inevitably going to lose our parents. Yes, sometimes they are taken from us too early, but all the same, the inevitable is still in our future. On the flip side, it tears my heart to pieces to hear that a parent has to bury their own child....this is just not fair! I say that "I run for those who can't, I run because I can"; I now add that "I am in it to win it"! Before our run today, we learned that a friend of one of our teammates has to say goodbye to their 8 year old, who has been battling cancer for at least half of his short, innocent life. This is just not fair! I run for those who can't, I run because I can....I run so that no more parents have to say goodbye to their own child.
Thank you for all of your ongoing support in well wishes. I truly am so lucky to have so many amazing people in my life! I am in this for the long haul...to find a cure! Please join me....
Having two amazing sisters makes me appreciate the relationship between my mom and her sister Shirley. Not only was Shirley there to support her own sister’s battle with cancer, she also spent the last few days of her sister’s time with us here on earth in addition to having to bury her baby sister.
After this life-changing experience, just shy of 9 years of my mom’s passing, she was diagnosed with the same disease that took her baby sister’s life too early. With the aid of amazing doctors, a supportive husband, two amazing sons and daughter-in-law, and the birth of the ever-most-perfect granddaughter, she is now cancer free!
Thank you Shirley for showing me that no hurdle is too high, no challenge is too difficult, as long as you surround yourself with love, support, and courage.
I run for those who can’t….I run because I can. Love you Aunt Shirley!
Thank you for all of the donations made this week! I get tears in my eyes every time I see a donation roll in. Thank you for helping me to help others in their fight to help cure cancer! Let's see the donations continue to roll in!
Made it through some great training workouts this week! From a hot, humid, and hilly Monday evening run with my fellow runner Maribel, to our Wednesday practice, where we just barely missed the thunderstorm, to our gorgeous 5AM run on Saturday at South Mountain....all in the name of TNT.
This week I run for a dear friend of mine, Susan. Susan is an amazing person, with the grace and patience of an angel. She has been battling a 20+ year fight against skin cancer. She has been poked, prodded, and is no stranger to surgery. Though, through it all, she would NEVER show her pain. She puts all others first, above herself. She is a person that makes me want to be a better person. She is an inspiration, a loving mother, and a forever friend.
Susan...this week, I dedicate my run for you. Thank you for helping me be a better me!
It amazes me how powerful and wide-spread the TNT community can reach. I recently found another friend running with TNT for LLS, in NYC. His name is Justin Sundheimer; and, this week, I dedicate my training to him.
Justin isn't only training and fundrasing for the Hampton’s Half Marathon with TNT, he is a 7 year survivor! He was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphona in February 2004. He has fought a battle and has come out on top! Through all of his chemo treatments to an upsetting replapse, he has persevered and is now in remission, since March 25, 2005!
He is such an inspiration, as he is proving to himself that he CAN do this, he CAN run a half-marathon...and he WILL!
Through all of your support and donations, every dollar will go toward curing cancer, and one day, stopping it! Thank you for all of your continued support....and remember, no dollar amount it too small!
I run for those who can't...I run because I can! This one is for you Justin!
