Racing to Save Lives
Welcome to my Team In Training home page.
I'm training to participate in the Nike Women's Marathon (all 26.2 miles!) as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking any more lives. I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
I train and run in honor of my step-grandma Lorraine (pictured with me above). My own grandmother passed away when I was 4 so Lorraine is the only grandma I've really known. If she can fight multiple myeloma for years, I can run a few miles and raise money in hopes that we will find a cure. I chose to train for an event (Nike Women's Marathon) whose goal and purpose is to raise money for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Together, we can make a difference 1 mile and 1 dollar at a time.
I would love to run in honor or memory of your loved ones too. Please make sure to let me know your loved ones names and I will carry them with me on race day. Visit tntjennifer.blogspot.com to see a list of all honored teammates.
For each individual/family donating $50 or business donating $150, you will help create a quilt that will be donated to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and will be used at a treatment center. You will be sent a 6.5" square to decorate how you please (or I will help you) and it will be included in the final quilt. The quilt will be designed and assembled by me.You will also receive a photo of your quilt square and the quilt itself. Please make sure to email me your contact information after your donation at jennifer.wellborn@gmail.com. If you donate $100, you have the option to decorate 2 quilt squares, $150 = 3 quilt squares, etc.
Check with your employer to see if they do matching funds for donations! Remember, your donation is tax deductible.
