Dear Family and Friends, It is with great gratitude that the Price family is running the Nashville Country Music Half Marathon in April of this year. This race benefits the Lymphoma and Leukemia societies. The reason that we are so grateful is because Shelby didn't die from Lymphoma last year. In fact, she kicked its butt. And we are so happy. We have decided to run a half marathon in memory of our family members who have died from cancer and in gratitude that Shelby didn't. To show that gratitude we are raising money to donate to this society so that others too will be able to triumph over this disease. None of us are runners. In fact, all of us are running with some kind of shortcoming. Nonetheless we are going to do it because we believe so much in this cause. These societies do so much good and are changing the lives of so many with cancer. Lexi and I want to show ourselves that we can set goals and achieve them. We want to show Shelby that we too can do hard things and triumph. Our battle to run this race is nothing compared to her battle with cancer, but this training has been really hard for us. Every time I run and it gets hard and I want to quit I think, "Cancer was harder. Chemo was harder. . . " This little sacrifice is nothing. I hope we can help. Shelby is running with a diminished lung capacity. She came out of radiation with some scarring in her lungs and pain and decided to run to make her lungs stronger. Not yet a year cancer-free she ran her first half marathon and showed the world that cancer was not going to win. She is a hero to us all. If she could run 13 miles like that the rest of us can too. Thank you for your donation of any size. I know we can reach our goal of raising $3,500. That part is going to be the easy part of this whole thing. Thank you for believing in us and for all your prayers, help and support while Shelby had cancer. We are surrounded by amazing people who do so much good. We know that Dad, Grandma and Yuko will be cheering for us on the other side. Thanks again for supporting us in this cause. It is so worth it! Love, Melanie & Jeff Wellman, Shelby & Jaymeson Stroud, Lexi Magnusson & Jamey Price "Yea, they did remember how great things the Lord had done for them, that he had delivered them from death, . . . and from all manner of afflictions". . .
