Racing to Save Lives
Hi Everyone!
Welcome to my Team In Training home page.
I'm training to participate in The Delaware Half Marathon as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. (Can you believe that I am actually training for a half marathon?!?!) All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
My selected honored hero is Benjhe Benton, a Hodgkin lymphoma survivor. I met Benjhe and his wife, Arlene, in Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University last year at my church. We all became fast friends and Arlene and I are now currently invovled in a women's bible study together. Benjhe was originally diagnosed when Arlene was pregnant with their first son. Thankfully Benjhe pulled through and conquered! He and Arlene are now happy parents of two adorable boys! I will be proudly representing Benjhe and his family on May 16, 2010.
Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission. It will be greatly appreciated and continue to motivate me to the finish line!
I hope you will visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. My pooch, Miller, is helping to get me out running/walking often, as well as my sister, Tracy, so cheer on all of us! Thanks for your support!
3/07/2010 So I am currently up to running 4 miles and walking an additional 1 to 1 1/2 miles. I actually have been quite impressed with myself because I don't know if I've ever run 4 miles before! I have been truely inspired by all of your generous donations and motivational comments. Thanks so much! I'll update again later this week!
05/05/2010 The race is in 11 days! Yikes! So I have continued to be amazed with the power of training! I'm up to 8 miles, was hoping to be up to 10 by this past weekend but I'm stuck resting an annoying shin splint! Despite the little setback, I'm having a great time and really enjoying the fellowship of team in training as well as running with my sister and members of my women's bible study. For those that have donated, thank you so much! For those of you considering to donate, please do so before the 16th! Thanks again for all of your support and I'll see you at the finish line!
