I did it! I finished my first half-marathon for a cure!

Yesterday, November 15, I walked the 13.1 miles of the Rock and Roll Half-Marathon with 30,000 participants and about 400 Team In Training participants and raised almost 3,000 that will be used to help stop leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. It was a great experience, and I was glad to walk in honor and memory of great people who battled or are still battling cancer.

On my shirt I carried ribbons with the names of friends and family who have or had cancer, and also names of loved ones submitted by the generous people who supported this effort. The names on my shirt were: Indianara, Camila Soares, Uma Stigall, Vinicius Morais, Todd Rauch, Ana Teixeira, Jose Morais, Amy Stockinger and Laurinda Bordallo.

I have just increased my goal and still have 30 days to fundraise the remaining amount and I intend to do so! If you haven't donated yet, please consider supporting LLS so more people like Mike, from San Antonio, who has been cancer free for only 6 months and walked with me the last couple of miles, can cross the finish line too! He was a great inspiration!
