Teams are made up of individuals. Without them, there is no team.

I have decided, yet again, to embark on this amazing journey with Team In Training (TNT) to run the Walt Disney World Half Marathon in Orlando, FL on January 7, 2012! You’re probably wondering what on earth could motivate me to run 13.1 miles? Nearly 1 million people are currently living with leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma in the United States.

FACTS

Every 4 minutes, someone new is diagnosed with a blood cancer.

Every 10 minutes, another child or adult loses their battle with this disease.

With the help of LLS funded research, we have been able to make advancements in the treatments for blood cancer patients. Rest assured your donation is being put towards improving the quality of life of patients and their families through research, education and patient services.

Many of you may or may not know how cancer has impacted my family in a multitude of ways, beginning when my cousin, Chrystal, was diagnosed with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML) at age 14. Chrystal’s battle with leukemia was difficult and back in 2002 her mom, Flo, chose to run Dublin Marathon with TNT in honor of Chrystal and her battle with leukemia. Now, 10 years later, Chrystal has been in remission for 13 years and here we are, running our FIRST half marathon together to show our support & dedication to the mission of LLS and help other blood cancer patients, survivors and families!

Throughout our four months of training we will be hosting different fundraisers to help raise money & create awareness for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s endurance training program Team In Training (TNT) and help aid in the fight against blood cancers!
